HEC can fund half your tuition automatically, yet the real deadline arrives after admission

HEC Paris MBA from India: Fees, Scholarships, and Application Timing

If you are an IT services engineer with six years of experience, a 680 GMAT, and an HEC Paris tab you have reopened four times this week, the number scaring you is probably EUR 102,000. The honest answer on HEC Paris MBA from India funding is more useful than the brochure version: HEC can discount up to half of that tuition without a separate scholarship application, but the awards that need your action all have a one-week clock that starts the day you are admitted. Most Indian admits learn this too late.

What the HEC Paris MBA costs an Indian family

For the September 2026 and January 2027 intakes, tuition is EUR 102,000, paid as a EUR 9,000 deposit plus instalments of EUR 47,000 and EUR 46,000. The school estimates EUR 25,300 for 16 months of living costs, before visa, insurance and flights. That puts the all-in figure near EUR 127,300.

At roughly Rs 110 per euro, the rate implied by the Rs 1.12 crore tuition figure that page uses, tuition alone is about Rs 1.12 crore and the full programme about Rs 1.4 crore. We have broken down the family-level arithmetic in our full cost of an MBA abroad analysis and the HEC fees and profile read.

The scholarships that need no application

According to HEC's own scholarship page, the Excellence Scholarship (up to 50 percent of tuition) and the Diversity Scholarship (also up to 50 percent) are automatic for admitted candidates. Excellence looks at academics, application strength, interviews and GMAT. Diversity looks at what distinctive value you add to the class, explained in your final essay.

Two consequences follow. First, there is no separate form to polish, so the scholarship is decided by the same file that gets you admitted. A sharper GMAT, a better interview and a final essay that says something only you could say are the scholarship strategy. Second, HEC states that combined Excellence, Forte, ARD and Paris-Saclay awards cannot exceed 50 percent of tuition, so the ceiling is EUR 51,000, not a sum of everything you qualify for.

One caution. HEC publishes no round-by-round data on how many awards go out or whether early applicants receive larger ones. You will see advice online that early rounds get bigger awards. We cannot verify that from HEC's materials, so do not plan a loan around it.

The awards with a one-week clock

This is where Indian admits lose money. The Laidlaw Scholars programme (100 percent of tuition, up to 10 per class, for women with leadership potential and financial constraints) and the CMA CGM Excellence Fund (an average award of EUR 25,000, set individually, for international students with financial need) both require an online form and essays submitted within one week of your admission result.

CMA CGM can be combined with Excellence and Diversity. Laidlaw cannot be combined with other HEC scholarships, and earlier awards become void if Laidlaw is granted. The L'Oreal scholarship (EUR 10,000, one award per intake) needs a 1,500-word essay submitted with the application itself.

If you are an IT services engineer or CA with six years of experience

Your leverage is the 635 average on the current GMAT scale (HEC equates this to 690 on the older scale), roughly six years of work experience and a class of about 268, per MIM-Essay's HEC FAQ. HEC does not publish an acceptance rate; third-party estimates run 15 to 20 percent. For you, the Excellence award is realistically a GMAT-plus-interview outcome.

For a chartered accountant weighing a Rs 1.4 crore total, the maths is blunt. A full 50 percent award takes tuition to EUR 51,000, so the all-in cost falls to roughly EUR 76,300, about Rs 84 lakh at the same rate. Model both outcomes, award and no award, before you sign a loan sanction letter. Our INSEAD versus HEC comparison covers the trade-off with a shorter programme.

If you are a woman, or come from life sciences

Forte (up to EUR 26,000) is claimed through an essay submitted with the MBA application, and the 30% Club award (50 percent of first-year tuition) is automatic for eligible women. Laidlaw is the full-tuition option described above. The newer Sanofi Life Sciences scholarship covers 75 percent of tuition for up to 10 admits a year with medical, pharma, veterinary or healthcare-technology backgrounds, is automatic if you qualify, and cannot be combined with other HEC Foundation scholarships. Pharma and biotech candidates should flag it in the additional-information field.

The Eiffel scholarship mostly misses Indian MBA applicants

The one deadline-gated award that gets cited most is Eiffel Excellence: a monthly allowance of EUR 1,181, no tuition cover, for non-French candidates under 29 applying for the September intake. HEC says only applications submitted from September to November are considered, with pre-selected candidates contacted in December. With the class averaging around six years of experience, most Indian MBA candidates will be past the age cut-off. Do not build a plan around it unless you are comfortably under 29.

HEC Paris MBA application timing for Indian applicants

HEC runs rolling rounds. For the September 2027 intake, the schedule on Clear Admit's deadline tracker and MIM-Essay's listing shows these round dates, with HEC noting dates can change:

  • 18 October 2026, decision 20 November 2026
  • 15 November 2026, decision 18 December 2026
  • 11 January 2027, decision 19 February 2027
  • 15 February 2027, decision 19 March 2027

The January 2027 intake closes with the same October and November rounds. At publication on 7 October 2026, the 18 October date is eleven days away. If the file is not finished, the later rounds cost you nothing structurally; a rushed file wastes your one shot at the automatic awards.

How HEC compares with the US route right now

The US alternative is not cheap on the back end. A proclamation signed on 18 September 2026 extends the USD 100,000 H-1B fee through 21 September 2027 for new petitions covering beneficiaries outside the US, with exemptions for in-country change of status and extensions; litigation continues. Elsewhere, the UK Graduate Route is due to shorten to 18 months from January 2027. HEC's placement picture is European: the Class of 2025 placed 52 percent of new jobs in Europe and 25 percent in Asia and Oceania, with 75 percent accepting offers within three months and 49 nationalities in the class.

What this means for Indian applicants

Treat the scholarship as part of the application, not a second project. Choose your round around your GMAT and essays, keep financial documents ready for the one-week forms, and model cost with and without any award. If you are weighing HEC against other schools, our MBA abroad hub and the how to get into HEC Paris from India guide cover the wider decision. For a read on whether your profile can earn the Excellence award, start with a profile evaluation; for the final essay that carries the Diversity case, our application editing work is where most admits spend their last weeks. The MBA and MIM service covers shortlisting across schools.

Common questions applicants are asking

Does HEC Paris give scholarships to Indian students? Yes. Indian applicants can be considered for Excellence, Diversity, CMA CGM and, depending on profile, Forte, Laidlaw, 30% Club and Sanofi. Excellence and Diversity are automatic for admitted candidates, decided about a week after admission, and deducted from the final tuition instalment.

How much is the HEC Paris MBA in rupees? Tuition is EUR 102,000, about Rs 1.12 crore at the rate used by the source above, and the school-estimated total is near EUR 127,300 with living costs. Visa, insurance and flights are extra.

What is the best round to apply in for HEC Paris? HEC publishes no round-level funding data, so the best round is the one where your GMAT, essays and recommendations are finished.

Can I combine HEC scholarships? Partly. Excellence, Forte, ARD and Paris-Saclay awards together are capped at 50 percent of tuition. CMA CGM can sit on top of Excellence and Diversity. Laidlaw and Sanofi cannot be stacked with other HEC Foundation scholarships.
