What does the ISB PGP PRO weekend format actually demand?
ISB describes PGP PRO as an 18-month modular, hybrid programme with in-person sessions on alternate weekends, offered from Hyderabad and Delhi, with mandatory attendance and an international immersion week. It does not award a master's degree; it awards a Postgraduate Certification. Crackverbal's guide puts the structure at 12 terms across 18 months, while GOALisB lists 24 courses in four phases: preparatory, foundation, core and advanced electives.
Do the arithmetic before you commit. Eighteen months is roughly 78 weekends. Alternate weekends means around 39 of them are spoken for, plus preparation between sessions, plus the campus residencies. Third-party sources disagree on the exact residency count (Crackverbal says four at Hyderabad plus one international week; GOALisB says three one-week sessions across Hyderabad, Mohali and abroad), so confirm the current number with ISB admissions before you plan leave.
The mandatory-attendance rule is what separates this from a casual evening course. Miss a weekend for a quarter-end review and you cannot simply catch up on a recording.
Who is actually in the PGP PRO cohort?
Cohort seniority is the strongest argument for the format. Minimum experience is five years, and the reported averages sit well above that. GOALisB reports an average age of 33, average work experience of 10.1 years and 24% women. Crackverbal's estimate is roughly 10 years of average experience in a cohort of 50 to 80. ISB's own page says the classroom draws professionals from technology, finance, consulting and manufacturing, and cites 21,800+ PGP-suite alumni, of whom 1,000+ are at CXO or top leadership level.
That means a five-year applicant is often sitting beside someone with double the tenure. For a senior manager this is the point: the peer bench is a working network of people who run P&Ls, hire teams and sign vendor contracts. If you are a senior IT or product manager who wants to stay put
This is the profile the format serves best. You keep your salary, your ESOP vesting and your team. The programme's cross-functional core (strategy, finance, marketing, operations, organizational behaviour, leadership) fills the general-management gap that a decade of functional work leaves. Crackverbal models an illustrative move from Rs 25 LPA to Rs 40 LPA over three years with a 2.5-year break-even. Treat that as one model, not a promise; ISB publishes no PGP PRO salary outcome data that we could verify.
The risk is fatigue. Weekend load compounds with release cycles and quarter-ends. Before you apply, ask your manager in writing what happens on a weekend you cannot attend.
If you are a banker or CA who wants a pivot
The format works less well here, and the reason is not the schedule. PGP PRO has no formal placement process. Crackverbal calls this the programme's most significant limitation. What does the PGP PRO fee really cover?
ISB's fee page for 2027-28 lists a total of Rs 39,96,080, made up of:
- Admission fee: Rs 3,99,500 including GST
- Tuition fee: Rs 35,76,580 including GST
- Refundable security deposit: Rs 20,000
For comparison, the 2026-27 total was Rs 37,38,180 (Rs 31,51,000 plus GST), so the fee has moved up by roughly Rs 2.6 lakh between intakes. The fee covers tuition, course materials, and boarding and lodging during campus residencies, plus lifetime access to learning resources and the international immersion experience. It does not cover your flights to Hyderabad or Delhi, immersion travel, a laptop or personal expenses.
Financing exists through five partner banks: Axis (up to 95 to 100% of cost at 6.99 to 7.00%), Bank of Baroda (up to Rs 40 lakh at 8.15%), Canara (up to Rs 50 lakh at 7.35%), Central Bank of India (up to Rs 50 lakh at 8.05 to 8.10%) and Credila (up to 100% at 8.75% onward). The verdict: does the weekend format work?
It works if three conditions hold. First, your employer tolerates a predictable weekend absence and, ideally, co-funds the fee. Second, your goal is to rise within your current industry, not exit it. Third, you value the peer network more than a placement cell. If any of the three fails, the format becomes an expensive way to burn out.
What this means for Indian applicants
Ask yourself whether you want acceleration or a switch. Acceleration inside a company you already like is where PGP PRO earns its Rs 40 lakh. Is ISB PGP PRO worth it for a senior manager? Worth depends on whether the credential moves a promotion or a raise. At Rs 39.96 lakh for the 2027-28 intake, you want a clear internal path where an ISB certificate counts. If your company ignores MBA credentials, the return is mostly network, not title.
Does ISB PGP PRO give a degree? No. ISB says it offers a Postgraduate Certification and is not equivalent to a master's degree. That matters if a future employer or visa process demands a formal degree.
